Ridgewood Water Reminder - Stage 2 Water Restrictions Remain In Effect

Ridgewood Water
In anticipation of the warming trend, this is a reminder that Stage 2 water restrictions are still in effect.

During this past week, Ridgewood Water's water storage tanks almost dropped below the action level to move into Stage III Restrictions.  It would appear that the warm and dry May weather has caused customers to start their irrigation schedules earlier this year than in the past.  In order to avoid entering into Stage III or IV this year, Ridgewood Water and Midland Park Borough are asking for residents in all four municipalities serviced by Ridgewood Water to cooperate with Stage II Restrictions and keep the water storage tanks at an operational capacity.  In addition to our PFAS Operational Strategy of using wells with the lowest levels of PFAS, cooperation with Stage II Restrictions will allow Ridgewood Water to keep adequate supply and pressure to support our Fire Suppression Infrastructure.

Please refer to https://water.ridgewoodnj.net/water-restrictions/ for details on the Village of Ridgewood’s conservation ordinance, FAQs, applications for exemptions, and links for conservation strategies and water saving tips.

Ridgewood will be increasing the number of shifts of watering enforcement throughout the summer. Employees will be tasked with documenting non-compliant watering in all four towns served by Ridgewood Water. Warnings will be issued in all four towns for the first observance of non-compliant watering in the form of a door knocker hang tag, and issued warnings will be recorded in a centralized database

Thank you for your cooperation and continuous support.

Stage II water restrictions are as follows:
  • Odd numbered addresses may irrigate on Tuesdays and Saturdays only.
  • Even numbered addresses may irrigate on Wednesdays and Sundays only.
  • No irrigation allowed on Mondays, Thursdays, or Fridays.
  • Automatic system use permitted only between 3am and 7am.
  • All other irrigation shall be performed before 10 am or after 6 pm, to limit evaporation.
  • EXCEPTIONS:
    • Irrigation is allowed any day (within time restrictions noted above) if utilizing a hand held hose or drip irrigation.
    • Irrigation with a Smart Controller. Smart Controller exemptions can be obtained from the office of Ridgewood Water.  Smart Controller permit holders must follow the conditions of the issued permit.
Compliance with the Stage II restrictions will reduce the likelihood that more severe controls will be needed.  We thank our customers for their understanding and support.
