Lead Service Line Information for Consumers - From the NJ DEP

NJ DEP
To reduce the potential risks from lead in drinking water, New Jersey enacted the Lead Service Line Replacement Law in July 2021 (P.L. 2021, Ch. 183) that requires drinking water systems to inventory service lines, notify residents of the potential presence of lead in their service lines, and plan for the replacement of all lead service lines within 10 ten years. The NJ Department of Environmental Protection has prepared resources to help residents understand the situation.
