The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) new guidelines came with an alternate metric for tracking risk. New “community levels” take into account not just the total number of COVID-19 cases in an area, but also hospital admissions and the number of beds available. The three levels are low, medium and high, and each come with distinct guidelines. According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) new guidelines, they now list seventeen  counties that are ranked as “high” risk and they include Atlantic, Bergen, Burlington, Camden, Cape May, Essex, Gloucester, Hudson, Middlesex, Monmouth, Morris, Ocean, Passaic, Somerset, Sussex, Union, and Warren. Four counties are in the  “medium” risk category: Cumberland, Hunterdon, Mercer, and Salem.

The data for the rate of transmission on Tuesday, July 19th remained at 1.11, the same rate of 1.11 from Monday, July 18th.   When the transmission rate is above 1, it means the outbreak is expanding.  When the transmission rate declines, it means the expansion is slowing.  Any number over 1 indicates that each new case is leading to at least 1 other new case.

According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), the Omicron Sub variant BA.5 accounted for 65% of new COVID-19 cases in the past week.  BA.5 is the most dominant strain of COVID-19 in New Jersey.

Due to a coding error, approximately 200,000 Pfizer (adult formulation) doses were not being classified as Pfizer doses. However, those doses were being included in the count of total vaccine doses administered in NJ. As of Feb 25, 2022, these doses are now included in the number of Pfizer doses administered. This change will contribute to statewide increases in the number of people with at least one dose, the number of fully vaccinated people, and the number of Pfizer additional/booster/3rd doses administered.

Due to a filtering error, the additional/3rd/booster doses were included in the counts for the New Jersey Department of Health COVID-19 Dashboard People Vaccinated Tab. These doses are now filtered out as of December 7th, 2021.

The New Jersey Department of Health COVID-19 Dashboard features a Vaccination Overview.  As of Tuesday, July 19th, a total of 14,119,309 vaccine doses were administered in New Jersey and 505,183 administered out of state for a total of 14,624,492.  A total of 6,765,964 were fully vaccinated at New Jersey sites and 204,747 estimated NJ residents vaccinated out of state for a total of 6,970,711 fully vaccinated.
